“GOING YOUNG” was the Arizona Republic headline and the Phoenix Suns, per usual, were ecstatic. Why? Well, they had got both “their guys,” but, hang on; it gets better.

“SUNS BUY MORE TIME WITH PAIR OF INTRIGUING PICKS” was attached to a column by Dan Bickley, the Republic’s NFL football guru who dabbles in NBA commentary. “The Suns,” he noted, “pulled off an amazing feat on Thursday. They spent their most valuable draft pick in 29 years on an 18-year-old project from Croatia. They traded their 13thm pick and other assets for a raw power forward who fouled out in nearly half his college games. And now [orchestra crescendo] they have three key players under the age of 20 in a league where youth will get you beat every time.

“And, like many Suns fans,” he exhaled, “I couldn’t be happier.”

Bick, I’ve said this before: You must get out of the sun and drink some water.
