1. Commissioner Adam Silver, before getting exercised over back-to-back games, extended road trips and a new play-off format, ought to make a concentrated effort to enforce Rule 10, Sections 2, 3 & 4. Translated, to simple language, the passage says, “Players cannot palm the ball, nor are they allowed to run with the ball (commonly described as “taking steps”). Not enforcing these cornerstone rules threatens to turn the game into a joke — not unlike what the All-Star game has become.

2. Why have a "Technology Summit" without Daryl Morey, NBA analytic guru? Present were Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson and Phil Jackson. Advocates present were Mark Cuban, Dallas Maverick owner; R.C. Buford, GM of the San Antonio Spurs, and Sacramento Kings owner, Vivek Ranadive.

3. What's this about the 3-point shooters having to take the balls out of the rack? These days, every team has a half-dozen assistant coaches whose principal duty is to pass balls to the players during pre-game shoot-arounds and warmups. Why not have the fans select their favorite assistants, and send them to the All-Star weekend to pass balls to the 3-point shooters? For sure, by getting in their natural rhythm, the players will shoot better -- plus the assistants will get some face time during all the hoopla, maybe help them get a head job sooner.

4. The “Rising Stars Challenge” was the best part of the weekend. Giving these kids (some whom may never make it to the NBA) a chance to perform on the big stage is a good thing. I sure liked it.
