Some are concerned Alex Len – maybe the Suns’ most valuable piece – is having trouble shooting. I dunno if this relates to his “mentor,” Tyson Chandler, having played 15 years in the league with no other offensive moves than a dunk shot and a put-back. But it makes sense just to give Len some help on the low block – and throw him the ball. Another possible tutor for Len could have been erstwhile assistant coach Mark West, the 17-year NBA veteran who also happens to be the Suns’ all-time shooting percentage leader (.613). But West, a Jeff Hornacek, hire, was kicked upstairs amid this season’s coaching commotion. So Len is left, I guess, with Chandler who, for his (franchise-crippling) $52 million across four seasons, was supposed to help lure LaMarcus Aldridge, and mentor Markieff Morris. Two strikes there, and now Chandler is making noises about not wanting to be part of re-building the Suns. “I want to win NOW!” he insists – this from a guy whose teams, in 14 years, missed the playoffs five times and blew out in the first round of the playoffs on six other occasions – and only once got past a conference semifinal … Hey, it’s difficult to make up this stuff, folks.http://www.nba.com/playerfile/alex_len/
