1. LeBron James had already decided, before the NBA draft, he was returning to Cleveland. 2. Knowing Flip Sanders’ and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ obsession with the freshman forward from Kansas, Cleveland made Anthony Wiggins the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. 2. James’ two-year, $42.1 million contract included a “player option” after one year – in essence saying, I am not playing for long with a bunch of kids. 4. Can Minnesota, committed to rebuilding, get Wiggins (and maybe 2013 overall No. 1 pick Andrew Bennett, and/or draft choices, and/or whatever), for Kevin Love, who says he’s playing out his option year anyway? 5. Then Cleveland, with James and Love and 2014 All-Star Game MVP point guard Kyrie Irving, himself a former overall No. 1 pick (2011) and the 2012 rookie of the year, would figure to easily earn a top spot in the sub-par Eastern Conference of the NBA. ### 6. Riddle me this: If this were Wall Street, wouldn’t all that be awfully close to insider trading? (I mean, without bringing up Cleveland’s remarkable good fortune of snagging the No. 1 lottery pick in the first place – with only a 1.7 per cent chance going in.)
