Last year in October with the help of Mr. Research, my blog, “Last Man Standing,” it was noted that Kevin Durant was the only client of the summer work-out guru, Rob McClanaghan, who had escaped serious injury in the preceding two seasons. Now, though, with Durant’s “Jones” fracture, the roster is complete: Every one of McClanaghan’s big-name disciples — with Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, John Wall, Steph Curry, Brook Lopez, Al Horford, Tyreke Evans preceding Durant — has wound up with significant time on the disabled list, anywhere from 25 games to an entire season … or more. Trust me when I say the body needs to recover from a long NBA season. Players can work on their game and get better in September. If it doesn’t happen then, it isn’t going to happen. So, take the summer off and be more productive — and enjoy a longer playing career. ++++
