Marquese Chriss collected so many fouls early in his frosh season at the University of Washington, his mother sent him to a sports psychologist. But some of the same problem has him collecting more fouls (one every six minutes) than any other NBA starter in his rookie season with Phoenix. And he’s talking back to the refs. A word of caution here: referees talk to each other and reputations are quickly magnified. Rasheed Wallace, the most censored man in NBA history with a record 41 technicals in one season and 317 total career Ts, can testify to that. Maybe the Suns ought to make it a point of special emphasis to Chriss so he understands repeatedly arguing with officials in the NBA is not a very productive idea.
